Robinsons Round Up Summer '18
Aug 24, 2018
Our construction teams have been having a busy summer travelling throughout the UK; they have completed projects in Southampton, Essex, Hull, Ireland, Stranraer and Oban, not to mention numerous builds in our local Dumfries and Galloway and the Scottish Borders.
Over the summer the site teams have embraced some subtle changes which have improved our ability to deliver our workload and we have reduced our reliance on subcontractors to further support our staff and develop their skills.
Our Principal Contracting teams have been busy over at a local Farm shop in Castle Douglas laying the floor insulation and mesh ready to concrete in the very near future. We’re working on some very exciting tenders at the moment and we will have more news for you soon as we have some very exciting projects coming up.
Our Agricultural teams have been busy completing a 400 cow shed at Dundrennan; we’ve completed the full build and internal fit out of agricultural internals.
We have also been busy constructing a tank at a local customer’s farm; we’ve currently tied the floor to accommodate a depth of 200mm and prepared the site for tank walls to 300mm and towers.
The floor has two external mixing points as well as internal mixing points on the slats and mats. We used a 43m pump on this job and the tank took one day to pour. We will be back in soon to shutter the tank wall to 2.743m (9’).
The building to cover it has four rows of slats and a single row of panels down the middle. The building will feed cattle to both sides underneath cantilevers.
Our Structural Steelwork and Cladding teams have been working on a very exciting project this year supplying and erecting the steelwork and cladding for a 280 ft long distillery building and concrete panel cladding on one of the Islands of Scotland. We’ve been delighted to be able to work on this exciting project.
Our Architectural department has been busy speaking with customers providing fee quotations for domestic projects, from new build house warrant applications to domestic extensions while still keeping busy with the agricultural side of the business.
A fantastic well done to our teams as well who have been impressing our customers with their excellent customer service skills:
A farmer from Dunn – “Thank you to the driver who was superb, very helpful and enthusiastic.”
Transport Company – “Very helpful and loaded our items very well.”
Farmer, Ruthven – “Shed has been delivered. Can I just say your new driver is absolutely first class. Shed looks great, thanks again.”
We’ve had a busy couple of months working with our customers to create bespoke buildings across different sectors and throughout the UK. We have some exciting projects coming up over the next few months and we can’t wait to share the finished products with you.
